“I’m usually working when I’m in Paris so I like to relax at the hotel bar at the Park Hyatt, which is where I often like to stay. The staff makes me feel at home every time I’m there. It’s nice to unwind at the bar after a long day spent working.”

Eating

Dave

Paris, France 75001

“It’s my favorite restaurant and has the best Chinese food in Paris. The atmosphere is truly amazing. I always see people I know from the fashion industry there.”

There seems to be two big color trends emerging for spring: nudes and bold brights (often in the form of graphic prints.) Lanvin had a bit of both.

PFW: Balenciaga, Nicolas loses the draping

Just as the rest of the fashion world is experimenting with draping en masse, Nicolas Ghesquière (who made the definitive statement on draping with his elegant collection for fall) has moved on to a younger, more provacative look for spring. The silhouettes are slimmer (skinny, techno trousers and vests), the prints more digital, and the hemlines higher. There are also moments of peek-a-boo transparency (a bra here, a panty there.)

PFW: Balmain, the military jacket soldiers on

“What will he do next?” has been the big question fashion types have been asking about Christophe Decarnin. His pointy-shouldered, skinny trousered rocker chic look has been wildly popular and much copied for the past two seasons. But how far can he take such a singular, trendy look? Judging by the looks from his spring show, he doesn’t stray too much from the successful formula he’s got going. The band-leader style jackets and shiny mini-dresses are still there, only this time the look has a slightly rough-edged, well-worn feel to it. Nothing too dramatic to alarm his ever-growing coterie of fans.
